Seend Acoustic Club (which isn’t actually a club and there is no membership required) was founded in September 2010 by always enthusiastic and energetic Malcolm Shipp of folk duo The Sodburys who is the regular compère. His long suffering fiancee Jen organises all the other multi tasking of finance, raffle and chocolate on chairs, oh yes, you get chocolate on your chair!
Music starts promptly at 8pm so we like folks to arrive by 7.45, grab a drink from the bar and settle down for the evening!
It is held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Seend Community Centre in the upstairs room. Entry price is usually £3 but it can be as high as £10 depending on the guest. From 2012, all Tuesday night gigs will be no more than £5.
From 2012 there will be floorspots available on ALL Tuesday night gigs. Due to an increasing number of requests to play, it would be best to ask in advance by email, in certain cases we will limit floorspots. Arrive by 7.45pm for a floorspot.
Each evening features one ’featured act’ that will perform a long set or 2 shorter sets of 1 to 1.5 hours in total, please see the calendar pages for details of who’s performing.
In the short time since this club started it has almost already outgrown it’s home, but as we’ve got nowhere else to go then we’re being a bit inventive in getting more people in, we’ve already removed a drinks bar and a complete wall. We’ve had some truly wonderful nights with brilliant performers. We’d love to see you there!
